Senior Audience Development Producer

In my role as a Senior Audience Development Producer, I work in all things digital and audience for The Post and Courier. I run the @pcgreenville Instagram and @postandcourier TikTok, as well as the various market Facebook and Twitter accounts. Along with designing, curating, and managing the social media accounts, I edit and coach for SEO best practices, audience friendly headlines, and digital language for all Greenville and Spartanburg market stories. I edit and publish a total of 8 different newsletter campaigns. I spearheaded our vertical video strategy, style, and creation as the media world turns more too vertical video for news coverage. In addition to the technical aspects of this position, I also give on-the-spot advice on publishing times, keywords, trends, topic coverage, and headlines based on analytics tracking and Google Trends.

January 2024

Potter Digital Ambassador

In this one-week fellowship, I worked with Northeast News in Kansas City. There I instituted Google Analytics 4 and Google Search Console, including user-friendly dashboards, and aided the team in how to use, understand, and implement the analytics that are collected. I spearheaded redesigned a website via WordPress by applying coding skills and years of experience with content management services, which resulted in an improved user experience on desktops and phones which received notable community appreciation for the improved visuals and accessibility. I also provided detailed instructional materials on managing and updating the website to meet community and service demands, allowing the newspaper to continue thriving in a virtual environment after the conclusion of the program.

May 2023 - August 2023

Web Production Intern

As the web production intern, I conducted in-depth research into 41 rare diseases including news releases and scientific journals to locate stories for the publication. I also reported and wrote a detailed feature on the struggles of accessing easy-to-use forms of portable oxygen by patients with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension, which was shared by national activist groups and organizations, along with social media sharing. I spent time daily copy editing, formatting on WordPress, and writing SEO information, and published a total of 81 web pages for three rare disease info pages over the course of the summer internship. I also participated in an intern audience research and development project using product management skills to design an app for user experience a revenue generation.

August 2022 - May 2024

COLUMBIA MISSOURIAN - NIGHT NEWS EDITOR

As Night News Editor for the Columbia Missourian, I managed night news production including copy editors, page designers, assistant city editors, and photographers, as well as students for the aforementioned positions, to put together the print newspaper by the deadline twice weekly. I planned and executed newspaper layout, and arrangement of news stories in the paper and on the front page, as well as what national news stories to include. I lead problem-solving as issues with nightly news production arise, including stories late for the deadline, stories or photo packages falling through, solving fact-checking errors, and making late-night decisions on the main front page story depending on content and news judgment. Along with print responsibilities, I also managed online and social media publishing for day-of and following morning news publishing

COLUMBIA MISSOURIAN - COPY EDITOR

As a copy editor for the Columbia Missourian, I edit for local and AP styles, as well as grammar and language. I also edit wire stories for style and grammar as needed. As a copy editor, I also post on social media and maintain the website.

COLUMBIA MISSOURIAN - REPORTER

As a reporter for the Columbia Missourian I work mainly on longer-form pieces, compiling multimedia elements for print and digital publication. Over the winter intersession (December 16, 2021 - January 15, 2022) I worked as a daily general assignment reporter. I worked with three other reporters to cover local news in the area for the daily print publication, as well as work on larger projects.

KOMU 8 NEWS - PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

KOMU 8 is the local NBC affiliate station where I work as a production assistant, preparing content to air for a variety of showtimes. I would work with the producer to ensure that all content and teasers are in the show run and that all content is approved for the show. I also run the prompter for the anchors and live reporters.
